Job Description

The Rise by Elevation Hotel, part of Boxer Resorts, has an exciting opportunity for a SMERF Sales Manager position. This is a great chance to further develop your skills in Sales and work for a Boxer Resort, a premier management company in the hospitality industry.

The SMERF Sales Manager position will manage accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded.

Some of the essential job functions are to:

  • Clear understanding of both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process
  • Understanding of pace and productivity
  • Strong yield management skills with an understanding of optimizing the catering mix of business and the use of historical data
  • Participate in the research the competition's products, services and pricing and use it to develop strategic business plans
  • Optimize room rental charges
  • Experience selling to a variety of market segments
  • Consistently book repeat business by having a track record of long term client relationships
  • Thorough knowledge of sales techniques including strong closing skills and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable with hotel site inspections and client presentations
  • Participate in trade shows and sales blitzes
  • Track record of strong prospecting efforts
  • Actively participate in community/civic activities to maintain awareness within community and to create booking opportunities
  • Ability to quickly evaluate alternatives and decide on a plan of action
  • Provide overall direction, coordination, and ongoing evaluation of operations
  • Experience providing Audio Visual equipment and operating Audio Visual as a profit center
  • Excellent knowledge of computers, specifically Delphi, Word and Excel
  • Ability to work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events and groups
  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
  • Soliciting group business within different market segments via teleprospecting and outside sales calls
  • Maintaining rapport and developing future business with existing contacts
  • Attending networking events, developing and maintaining good relationships with officials and representatives of local community groups, companies, and trade organizations, and attending local and out-of-town meetings and conventions in order to generate sales for the hotel
  • Conducting site tours
  • Assisting in the development and management of the departmental budget and monitoring sales activity to ensure that contracts and proposals go out in a timely manner
  • Communicating with all hotel departments regarding group schedules and details pertinent to the effective management of group operations
  • Following up with customers

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to achieve budgeted goals
  • Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times
  • Must be a team player willing to “pitch in” in any area of the hotel
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and guests in a friendly and positive manner, in order to solicit business, meet client needs and resolve complaints
  • Knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact
  • Ability to move throughout the hotel to conduct site inspections
