Job Description

Boxer Resorts is searching for an Assistant General Manager for Elevation Hotel and Spa in Crested Butte, Colorado. The Assistant General Manager (AGM) leads the staff as coach and trainer in the proper execution of Front Desk, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Bell Desk and Food Service standards. This includes managing the team on a continual basis throughout the day. The Assistant General Manager will assist in hiring team members, manage performance, communicate feedback, administer discipline and train the team in successful performance of their jobs. The AGM provides effective guest service and is responsible for the total site in the absence of the General Manager.

Core Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages hotel costs, including supplies, utilities, food and beverage and labor expenses based on budgeted parameters
  • Ensures service, technical skills and all training of company standards upon hiring new associates
  • Facilitates and advocated full use and proficiency in Boxer systems
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and resort staff as a whole
  • Hires team members who demonstrate strong, functional expertise
  • Foster team commitment to providing exceptional service
  • Participates in daily stand-up meetings
  • Models desired service behaviors in all interactions with guests and team members
  • Demonstrates and communicates drivers of guest satisfaction
  • Ensures core elements of service strategy are in place to produce the desired results
  • Walks property and interfaces with customers regularly to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels, and overall satisfaction
  • Reviews comment cards, guest survey results and other data to identify areas of improvement
  • Reviews findings with hotel team and ensures appropriate action is taken
  • Analyzes service issues, identifies trends and facilitates the development of creative solutions
  • Ensures the building is maintained according to company standards
  • Ensures policies are administered fairly and consistently and that team member performance is evaluated and recognized where appropriate
  • Employs progressive disciplinary action when and where necessary

Essential Skills Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar hospitality / hotel operations role
  • Great communicator, written/verbal and keen interpersonal skills
  • Experience with Opera and Microsoft applications
  • Proactive approach to meeting deadlines and targets, with excellent organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor, excellent phone skills, and polished presentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, and work holidays and weekends as needed
  • High School or GED equivalent required, Degree preferred
